A quiet artist’s retreat on the rural outskirts of Chennai, the farmhouse is conceived as a stark white form set against the earthy landscape, in a way to challenge the idea of ‘blending with the landscape’. Sculptural volumes frame distant views, while courtyards and terraces draw the landscape into the home. A restrained material palette, shaped by light and shadow, intends to create a sense of calm and refuge - a clean slate to showcase the artist’s creation.
