A sanctuary for performing artists, Lila Arts Centre was envisioned in the dense urban core of Chennai. The challenge was to maximise performance space within the constraints of an existing shell. The centre offers a quiet retreat from the intensity of the city - a place for solitude, reflection, and creative expression. Drawing from the spatial language of heritage, the use of ornate wood columns and brass details evokes a sense of familiarity, while mirrored surfaces dissolve boundaries, allowing the space to expand into a stage for movement and performance.
